Boshma's gorgonian shrimp (Hamodaecylus boschmai) are annoyingly shy and difficult to get close to. Definitely a critter better shot from a distance (105mm or longer lens) with strobes instead of a focus/handheld light. The little guys will quickly crawl to the opposite site of the coral, and when you only have about 1-2mm focal depth, it becomes very hard to get a sharp shot. 19 September, 2025 T3, Perhentians, Malaysia [#Sony A7R IV + 90mm lens and a +12.5 adaptor]

"Of course I'm home, I'm always home! Now go away, I'm eating!" This bright orange tube snail is a Vermetid (Thylacodes sp. A), which, unlike most snails, doesn't move at all. Once they land on a bit of rock or similar, they attach, and grow their shell around them. Part of their head is a "lid" to close their hole and protect themselves from predators (much like a wombat's butt). Because they can't move, they instead vomit out mucus slime strands, which drift out like a net and catch small bits of detritus.
